FileMaker Pro has long offered three ways of looking at a given layout: Form view, List view, and Table view. That third one is a special kind of list view that presents the records in neat rows and columns, much like a spreadsheet. When you enter Table view in FileMaker 10, a new button appears in the toolbar that unlocks the enhancements. Click on "Modify" in the top right corner to add or remove columns from your table view. You can also rearrange the order in which they're presented, and all your changes appear in real-time.
Table view -- and list view too — now sport "Dynamic Reporting." If you've created summary reports in the past, you'll recall that you must be in Preview Mode to see summarized data such as column totals. Dynamic Reporting shows live totals in Browse Mode and, for the first time, in Table View.
Another nice touch -- fields added to a table view in this manner are not placed on the underlying layout. This lets you do things like use Table view for debugging. You can have your troubleshooting fields in table view without having to create a dedicated layout.
