About this Article:

FileMaker Pro is great at a lot of things, but it doesn't have robust support for time-based visualizations (if you've ever had to build your own month-view calendar layout, you understand). Many creative professionals want time-tracking software to keep track of billable hours on projects. Creating a data entry interface for this sort of thing is not too tough, but doing meaningful reporting on the data can be tricky. Fortunately, the Web Viewer opens up a whole new world for developers by letting us render HTML on a FileMaker Pro layout. In this article, you'll find out how to use the Web Viewer with Timeline (a DHTML-based AJAXy widget) to render time-based event data.
