About this Article:
If you've checked under the hood of a FileMaker database (or created one on your own), you know that the fields holding your data come in several different types. There are text fields for holding text data like names, addresses, descriptions, and notes. Number fields store numeric data, like Quantity and Price. (See the sidebar for advice on when to use number fields, and when not to.) But to get FileMaker doing really useful stuff, you'll want to learn about calculation fields. This article gets you started using calculation fields.
