Use FileMaker as RAD Tool for Larger SQL Databases

FmPro Migrator lets you combine the benefits of FileMaker Pro with powerful, enterprise-scale SQL databases such as IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server.

Would you like to combine FileMaker Pro's ease of development with the enterprise strength of a larger database such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server? A development tool is available that lets you do it.

FmPro Migrator from .com Solutions lets you use FileMaker Pro (FMP) as a rapid application development (RAD) tool to prototype enterprise-scale databases for MySQL, Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, and IBM DB2. You can design and test the user interface and database structure in FMP, then migrate the structure and data to a supported database server.

FmPro Migrator Enterprise Edition is compiled as a Cocoa application, so it's compatible with Mac OS X 10.3.

The tool ensures your final database structure matches the original FMP structure exactly, .com Solutions says. As a result, you can use third-party products to perform real-time replication between FMP and SQL databases.

FmPro lets you transfer large text and .JPEG image data to the destination database without re-keying manually, and build Web applications quickly by generating a set of HTML, documentation, and Perl CGI scripts for each layout of an FMP database.

The Enterprise Edition costs US$50 for an unlimited-user site license. Standard Edition costs $30 for a one-user license.

You can get FmPro Migrator at http://www.fmpromigrator.com.
