Fine-Tune View Usage
Use simple LotusScript to measure database view usage so you can streamline your applications.
About this Article:
During planning sessions, it's often difficult for you and the users to visualize how they will use the application. In most cases, you build too many views that sap performance from your Domino server and not give the user any additional benefit. The technique in this article describes how to use simple LotusScript to measure how users use a database's views so you can fine-tune your application's presentation.
John P. M. Dillon has been developing Notes applications, predominately workflow apps, for a research firm in Ventura County, California since 1996. He recently began teaching Rapid Application Development with Lotus Notes at California Lutheran University. Outside of work, his passion is the sport of performance rally, a Notes-like motorsport, where racing happens in remote areas, with close collaboration between driver and navigator, at very high speeds. John's team has won several races and championships and is currently seeking partners and sponsors for the upcoming season. On occasion he can be heard torturing the keys of his piano while composing music.
