Informatica Corporation and Viador Inc. are teaming their enterprise information access products to offer an enterprise portal solution for e-business applications.
The alliance matches Informatica's data integration platform, and PowerCenter hub, with the Viador E-Portal Suite, which lets users search, retrieve, and distribute corporate data through a single, customized view.
The Informatica PowerCenter data-integration hub delivers legacy, relational, and ERP data, along with its underlying metadata, to a data warehouse or data mart, for analysis.
"With the data and metadata in place, it's ready to be delivered via a portal to employees, managers and partners around the world," says Stan Wang, Viador president and CEO. "Viador's E-Portal Suite extends the concept of end-to-end structured data integration and access by adding support for unstructured data, Internet sources and productivity applications, and unifying it all within a personalized, browser-based portal."
The companies say their offering will harness the power of XML as a standard for the exchange of data and metadata between disparate systems, citing its ease-of-use, flexibility, and "self-describing" nature.
"With the planned integration of PowerCenter and Viador's E-Portal Suite, it is expected that customers will be able to use the combination of the data stored in XML documents, and the metadata that both describes and augments it, to perform a variety of tasks including personalized information delivery based on data characteristics and events, as well as business-partner communication," explains Informatica CEO Gaurav Dhillon.
