FileBooks Link 5
HAPPY Software, Inc.
US$199 per license (only one license is required for any number of FileMaker Pro users accessing the same QuickBooks company file)
FileBooks Link is a FileMaker Pro plug-in that allows two-way, real-time data integration between FileMaker Pro and QuickBooks. FileBooks Link lets you build comprehensive business solutions that leverage the features of QuickBooks. You can transfer balances, customer lists, and filtered lists of transactions between QuickBooks and FileMaker Pro. There's no scripting required -- working "pass-through" files let you get started without editing scripts or calculations. FileBooks Link also allows access to specialized QuickBooks versions such as QuickBooks Online Edition, Point of Sale, and Simple Start products. FileBooks Link is compatible with FileMaker Pro 4 and newer.
Runs on all Windows OSs, including Vista. For developers using Macintosh versions of QuickBooks, HAPPY Software recommends designing around at least one Windows computer running QuickBooks, since QuickBooks doesn't offer an API to integrate with external applications like the one available for Windows versions of QuickBooks.
FileBooks Link in Action
IT Solutions Consulting is a leading Philadelphia-area provider of custom application development services, proactive network support, and technology and business consulting. The company partners with technology industry leaders such as FileMaker Pro, Apple, Cisco, Dell, Hewlett Packard, Ingram Micro, Microsoft, Symantec, and Veritas to provide its clients with the most effective solutions that best meet their needs.
IT Solutions' client, a reseller of packaging equipment in suburban Philadelphia, was using a FileMaker solution to track invoices and payments and having a lot of difficulty reconciling balances. They considered using QuickBooks for this since they were already using it to enter payables to vendors, but this would have required double data entry.
ITS proposed a solution that let their client generate invoices in QuickBooks from sales orders in FileMaker Pro using the FileBooks Link plug-in. With its client counterpart, it communicates the FileMaker Pro transactions to the QuickBooks Accounting System. Now anyone using the FileMaker Pro application can submit invoices to QuickBooks and check invoice balances, eliminating double data entry.
