IBM Releases Lotus Notes and Domino 5.0.12
This scheduled maintenance release for R5 contains 338 fixes as well as several new features.
On 27 February 2003, IBM released version 5.0.12 of the Lotus Notes client and Lotus Domino server, the twelfth maintenance update to the version 5 product. This is a scheduled maintenance release that contains 338 fixes as well as several new features.
Key fixes include a correction for a problem that caused the Ambiguous Name dialog in mail to return the name above the one selected when Type-Ahead is enabled with "Local then Server" and "Stop after first match" selected. Another fix involves a server crash that occurred when a response doc, which contained a filter formula, was monitored by activity monitoring software.
New features include:
- Notes and Domino now support Netscape 7 (Mozilla) Web browser for Linux and IBM OS/2.
- With updates to Calendar and Scheduling, the repeating event model offers better functionality in a mixed Notes 5 and Notes/Domino 6 user environment; for example, reschedules of repeating meetings in Notes 6 and later now work seamlessly with Notes 5 users.
- On the Notes client, the "over-quota" message has been re-worked to provide better information about the specific context that caused the error condition. A user could run into this in a number of ways, such as sending mail, saving a draft message, attaching a file to a mail message, and modifying the design of the mail file.
- There's access to Microsoft SQL Server data for Domino Enterprise Connection Services (DECS) via OLE-DB. The Lotus Connector for OLE-DB provides native connectivity to Microsoft SQL 2000 and Microsoft Access 2000. The connector is certified on Windows NT and Windows 2000 and can be used with DECS 5.0.12. You can also use the OLE-DB Connector with Lotus Connector LSX.
