Advansys is offering a new applet for its Formativ product for GroupWise that lets you remove duplicate entries from a personal address book. You can define duplicates as address book entries in the same address book that have either the same display name or the same e-mail address.
When a duplicate is detected, it's removed from the selected address book and moved to a dynamically created address book for review. This address book has the same name as the original book, but with "- Backup" appended. After you determine you no longer need the removed address book entries, you can manually delete the backup book.
If you delete a GroupWise address book manually before running this applet, due to a GroupWise client refresh issue, the list of available address books that appears might not be accurate. If you delete an address book before running the applet, Advansys suggests you restart GroupWise to ensure only valid books are shown.
