About this Article:

Many database systems require address information. For example, a simple order system must have a billing address, shipping address, and possibly a "ship from" address. For towns or cities that have long names, such as Thousand Oaks, or commonly misspelled names, such as Albuquerque, getting data into your applications is time-consuming and error-prone.

John DillonJohn P. M. Dillon has been developing Notes applications, predominately workflow apps, for a research firm in Ventura County, California since 1996. He recently began teaching Rapid Application Development with Lotus Notes at California Lutheran University. Outside of work, his passion is the sport of performance rally, a Notes-like motorsport, where racing happens in remote areas, with close collaboration between driver and navigator, at very high speeds. John's team has won several races and championships and is currently seeking partners and sponsors for the upcoming season. On occasion he can be heard torturing the keys of his piano while composing music.
