SITE, MAGAZINE AND JOURNAL INFORMATION PUBLICATION ONLINE ACCESS
HOW TO READ A "SUBSCRIBER-ONLY" or "PASSPORT-ONLY" ARTICLE AT MY.ADVISOR.COM:
Some articles require sign-in to read. Such articles may display a key icon and/or say "Subscriber-only" and/or "Passport-only" and/or say "for Subscribers of" + publication name.
= Free Access = Only Subscriber/Passport access = Only Subscriber/Passport download
To read a Subscriber-only or Passport-only article, you must:
REGISTER: You need a registered ADVISOR ID and password so you can sign-in. This is a one-time step.
SUBSCRIBE: Buy or already have a subscription to the named Advisor publication or site (or a suitable Advisor Passport).
CONNECT: Get your Subscription or Passport connected to your ID.
SIGN-IN: In the "Sign-In" pink box on most pages of My.Advisor.com, use your ADVISOR ID and password to sign-in to read the articles included in your subscription.
4-STEPS DETAILS: HOW TO GET ONLINE ACCESS TO PASSPORT/SUBSCRIBER-ONLY ARTICLES
1. REGISTER -- one-time-step
Online access requires that you have a unique ADVISOR ID (username) and Password. This must be registered with our site.
You must register only once, and have only one ADVISOR ID. If you forget your ID or password, contact Customer Service for help -- do not register again.
Your registered ADVISOR ID is your permanent account number with us.
NOTE: You can't "register" your ID by simply typing it on an order form, you must actually register it at the above link to assure it is uniquely yours. This is a one-time step.
Provide your ADVISOR ID on the order form as instructed. (Caution: This requires the exact ID that you registered at MemberCenter.Advisor.com.)
This is the fast, easy, reliable way to subscribe, because it is automated.
3. CONNECT
When you subscribe via www.AdvisorStore.com your online access will be activated automatically IF you provide your exact registered ADVISOR ID on the order form.
Once you submit your order, access activation can take just minutes, maybe a few hours, but please allow one day for the server to process all new orders. You will not be notified of activation success or failure; if after waiting one day you still don't have access (sign-in to My.ADVISOR.com and see if it works), see "PROBLEM" below.
If you do not provide your registered ADVISOR ID on the order form, you must contact Customer Service. Give us your registered ID (but keep your password secret), and your order number. We will manually activate your access, which can take from one day to a couple of weeks.
CAUTION: Doing steps in reverse order will NOT work. To have your subscription automatically connect to your sign-in, you must have a registered ADVISOR ID before you place an order, because submitting of a complete order is the only time the two automated processes communicate.
4. SIGN-IN
Once you are activated with a Subscription or Passport to a particular publication, using it is simple:
Sign-in with your registered ADVISOR ID and password. You can sign-in on the publication's site, or an article in the publication. (The sign-in box is pink so it's easy to locate.)
Upon sign-in you'll be at My.Advisor.com, where you will have access to ALL the articles and downloads that are included in your Subscription or Passport. You'll see the full contents of every article you click on -- IF you have a Subscription or Passport to a publication that includes that article.
4 STEPS -- THAT'S ALL YOU NEED TO DO. If you have a problem, keep reading.
IMPORTANT: You must register your ID yourself.
No one else can go to MemberCenter.Advisor.com and register you for an ADVISOR ID, because only you can do the security and email verification steps.
Don't "wait" -- you won't receive a notice that your registration has been done by someone else. Your sign-up is not done automatically, it's not done when you buy a subscription, it's not done by Customer Service, not by a subscription agency, not by anyone -- only by you.
This is necessary to ensure your identity and information are correct and secure.
NOTE: Your subscription begins when you purchase it, not when (or if) you register for an ADVISOR ID or use online access.
When you contact Customer Service, give us your registered ADVISOR ID (but keep your password secret), your order details, and for a renewal also provide your existing subscription details.
Please understand that Customer Service help requires several steps of manual processing, so it can take days or even weeks to update your online access, vs. a few hours if you purchase via www.AdvisorStore.com.
PROBLEM?
If you do not see the full contents of an article, sign-in while viewing the article summary on http://My.Advisor.com and the screen should immediately refresh and show you the entire article.
If you sign-in but don't see full contents, make sure you really are signed-in. The pink sign-in box should change to show your ADVISOR ID. If it still shows the sign-in form, you are NOT signed-in.
The most common sign-in problem is using the wrong password. For your security we can't read your existing password, but we can change it to something else at your request.
The most common problem reading an article is not having a correct subscription. If an article is locked, it states the publication(s) it belongs to. You must have a subscription to one of these to read the article.
Another possible problem is if you somehow leave domain My.Advisor.com, such as by finding an article via Google or another external search (the upper-right Search on our pages won't have this problem). If you "lose" your sign-in, change the URL's domain to my.advisor.com. All your sign-in and viewing must be at http://My.Advisor.com.
Only a signed-in, activated Subscriber or Passport holder can access the publication's articles and downloads online. Everyone else sees only summaries of such articles. In most places where articles are listed, you are told what Subscriptions or Passports will give you access to the article or download. If there is no symbol, the full article is not available online, but possibly is available in an anthology CD or printed back issue.
SUBSCRIPTION and PASSPORT HOLDERS: Your site, magazine or journal Subscription or Passport gives you online access to all the articles in that publication, including new articles as they get posted from time-to-time.
If you desire access to articles in other publications, you must buy an appropriate Subscription or Passport. See what's available at Advisor Store.
WHAT'S IN THE ADVISOR ARCHIVE AND REFERENCE LIBRARY?
The Advisor Library contains the articles from new issues as they are published, and virtually everything published in all Advisor publications from January 2000, plus some classic articles, tips and downloads from pre-2000.
You can determine whether a complete article is online by noticing whether it is listed with a "glasses" or "key" icon. Lack of an icon often means the article is not currently available online.
Also, the Advisor Library database lists titles and summary information about essentially every article published since the mid-1990s. You can use this database as an index of articles so you can easily discover what's in your personal collection of past issues, or get classic know-how on the Advisor Anthology CDs that are available in www.AdvisorStore.com.
Keep in mind that you can only access the portion of the Advisor Library that is included with your current Subscription or Passport, as stated at www.AdvisorStore.com.
