Frequently-Asked Questions & Answers
My ADVISOR Print Edition mailing label says "WEB Access: Help.Advisor.com" or "See Help.Advisor.com for Web Access" -- What does this mean? It means we don't know your ADVISOR ID, which is how you sign-in to the Web Edition of your subscription. If you have not yet registered for an ADVISOR ID, see the next Question. Once you have a registered ID, contact Customer Service (below) so we can add your ID to your subscription.
How do I get an ADVISOR ID to sign-in to My.Advisor.com, DataBased.Advisor.com, FileMaker.Advisor.com and other Advisor business/technology sites?
It's easy and free to register for an ADVISOR ID, which is your permanent unique account number with us. Just go to http://MemberCenter.Advisor.com. You must have a registered ADVISOR ID, but only one; registering more than once will disrupt your online access.
How do I change my ADVISOR Print Edition subscription address? Use the form at http://Contact.Advisor.com. Provide your ADVISOR ID, your current email address, and your old and new addresses and Customer Service will update your subscription record.

All customer service is provided online. We try to respond to online messages the same day, however please allow up to 2 days (or in rare cases a bit longer). Contacting us by other methods can take substantially longer (see below). We do not provide telephone support because we require many details that are best communicated in writing so we can research the situation and respond in detail.

If you have a technical problem using our online contact method, you can call our Advertising office (number below). Be prepared to record a message with all of the required information so it can be forwarded to Customer Service, who will reply to you by email.

Online Access to an ADVISOR Publication's Web Edition
Many ADVISOR articles are locked, readable only by subscribers of the publication Web Edition specified in the article's information box. Only a current subscriber to a specified publication can read a locked article. Everyone else sees only an article synopsis.
The Web site that provides subscriber access to all Web Editions is http://My.Advisor.com. If you are a current subscriber to a specified publication, and you have activated your Web Edition online subscriber access, use your ADVISOR ID to sign-in and you'll immediately see the entire article and have access to any download. Once you are signed-in to http://My.Advisor.com, you have access to ALL new, current and archive articles and downloads in the Web Edition of any publication you subscribe to. (The only requirement is that you remain at My.Advisor.com. If you go to another ADVISOR domain your browser will "forget" you are signed-in; just go back to My.Advisor.com.)

The most common sign-in/access problems are not using the correct password, or forgetting your ADVISOR ID. DO NOT REGISTER again, use http://Contact.Advisor.com to get help from Customer Service. Registering more than once is not allowed because it blocks your access and violates Terms of Service.
Another problem is registering at the wrong site. Our Business/Technology publications are at My.Advisor.com and you must register for your ADVISOR ID at http://MemberCenter.Advisor.com. DO NOT REGISTER at www.Advisor.com for Business/Technology publications; that is a separate site for our Personal/Lifestyle publications.
A third problem can happen if you use an "ad blocker" that inappropriately disables the sign-in link/script that gives you access. The only solution is to disable the ad blocker in your browser. ADVISOR Email Notices, Updates & Enewsletters
The war against spam sometimes results in blocking good email too. To avoid problems receiving messages from ADVISOR customer service, editors, store, and enewsletters, be sure your email system or ISP is not blocking any of ADVISOR's primary email domains, including these:
If you are filtering out unsolicited advertisements, and you believe spammers actually follow the rules and put "ADV:" at the beginning of a Subject line, be sure you carefully block only this. Don't block "ADV" (without the colon) anywhere in the Subject or you'll miss lots of valid email, because "adv" is common in many words.
SPF: We hope your email system uses Sender Policy Framework (SPF) to verify incoming email. All ADVISOR email domains have SPF records your mail system can use to identify legitimate ADVISOR email, and block spoofers who fraudulently use our name to send you junk. Criminals often use "spoofing" in email addresses to pretend they are someone else, but examining the email header usually shows where it really originated. If you receive any questionable email claiming to be from Advisor, please tell ADVISOR Customer Service so we can investigate the source. Learn more at http://FAQ.Advisor.com.
EMAIL NOTICE: If you do not readily accept email communication from us, we are not responsible for the outcome of any business transaction with you. If you specify your email incorrectly, or if you change it but do not notify us, or if you identify our messages to you as spam, we can't communicate reliably with you. If your email system blocks mail with a "challenge" system, you will not receive our messages; due to the number of customers we service, we cannot respond to challenge questions or registration requirements. Any failure of our ability to email you that is caused by your actions or mistakes is not cause for you to cancel or get a refund.

If you attempt to connect to ADVISOR.com or any ADVISOR domain or IP address and are stopped cold, it's possible that the IP address you are using has been blocked. This could happen if your address, or another related IP address, was used to do bad things, such attacking with a spider, crawler, spambot, auto-poster, or other automated method of rapid connection that is forbidden by ADVISOR MEDIA's Terms of Service, or by any attempt to crack into ADVISOR servers.
