Many studies show that spam costs companies around the globe billions of dollars every year in equipment, software, and productivity. Your first instinct might be to lock down your e-mail systems to filter out all spam. Easier said than done. Not only do you have to worry about configuring the filters to catch all the incoming spam, you have to make sure you aren't filtering out legitimate correspondence.
